Why do people abuse creatures that love unconditionally? I cannot even begin to understand.

On July 25, 2003 over 75 cats and 2 dogs were removed from a small home by our Animal Control. They were living in essentially one room, with no air-conditioning. Sick cats were not segregated from the healthy cats. None were getting medical care, many suffereing from skin diseases, ring worm, ear mites and were covered in scabs. Many of the cats had FeLV and gave it freely to others.
